Sick

Yah, sick again. It's a tradition for me to fall sick every 3-4 months. Haiz. Same thing, sore throat, flu and heavy head.

Recently, very suay. Alot of suay things happen and I feel like life is very shitty. So now, I don't feel like doing anything. I just want to lie in bed EVERYDAY and sleep away. Haiz. What the hell lor.

A disaster just happened to my FFX. It is such a MEGA BIG disaster that talking about it makes me very upset so I am not going to talk about it liao. Sucks man..

Sweeny Todd

Amai was saying that she loves musicals. I am actually not a big fan for musicals but I saw this musical movie a few weeks ago and I thought it was wonderful!

Sweeny Todd was on the cinemas last year but I didn't have time to see it at that time and I think it wasn't popular so it was not on the screen for a long time. I wanted to see it because I like the poster. I like the poster very much. Finally, I got the DVD sometime ago and decided to watch it last 2 weeks, on my bday. Lol..

DLQ was there when I watched it and she was surprised that I am watching such a sinister, diabolic musical. There were many people at my place but none of them could bear sitting down and watching a musical. Too boring I guess.

This is the poster I like.

I don't really know alot of ang moh actors because they all look kinda same to me but I think I like Johnny Depp now. I have seen his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the Pirates series and they gave me a very deep impression of him. He is a good actor I think.

Tim Burton is a good director and together with Johnny Depp, it can't go wrong.

The plot is about this barber who was accused of something he didn't do and was sent away for 15 years. Meanwhile the judge who wrongly accused him took his wife and daughter. The wife committed suicide and the daughter was locked up by the judge. Johnny aka Sweeny Todd came back after 15 years to seek revenge. That's roughly the plot but there is a twist at the ending.

I think Johnny Depp fits the role of Sweeny Todd well. Look at him, so sinister looking. Surprisingly, he sang pretty well too. It wasn't expected because he will probably sound like a pop singer but no, he sang the musical well. In fact, it was said that he practiced the singing everywhere he goes, even during the filming of Pirates: At world's end.

Sweeny Todd and Mrs Lovett.

I think the hairstyle is quite stylish. He looks like a skunk. :P

If you haven't seen this movie yet, I will suggest you to see it. The beginning is a bit slow and full of singing so you might fall asleep, just like how you will fall asleep when you watch chinese opera. But still, it is worth the time to sit there till the end of the show. I suggest you to watch in the day. This show is rated R because of it's bloody violence.

James Wedding

Jame's wedding was a simple affair held at Xin Fu restaurant. A bigger celebration will be held in Malaysia as his wife is Malaysian. The dinner was on 31 Aug and I brought Katie along.

Lock, Katie and me.

Saying the vows... awww.. My N82 when taking photos with the flashlights gave me dark photos like this but when I switched off the flash, it's like this:

Weird like anything. Signing the papers. This is the second time I am blogging about a solemnisation. The first one was Peijia's one...

The wedded couple still must accept tea and give angbao to the kids lor! The wedding was simple and it ended quite early, at about 9.30pm. Lol, we were all very punctual guests. At a lot of weddings, the guests will come in at 8pm when the card says 6.30pm. James told us to come in at 6pm and all of us went there at that time. The wedding dinner was able to start off on time which is good.

I think all weddings should be like this and not make us all wait till like 8pm then start the dinner. And of course, the guests should be punctual. If it's my wedding, I will probably just start the dinner at the indicated time regardless of whether all the guests arrived already or not. If they want to be late then too bad for them that they has got less food, serves them right. The card already told them to come at 7pm, they act smart, want to come late.

I think I will be the most atittude bride lor.

Btw, this is my 400th post for Mikolah! yay~ Although it is not alot for 1 blog but I have 2 blogs! Most of my blog entries are quite long and requires lots of typing and kping so it's not easy to write so many entries ok! The total of posts for both my blogs are coming close to 800 liao. A lucky number.

Lock's doodling

I happened to see a book on Lock's desk, it was a self-help book on wealth building. Curiously I flipped the book and saw lots of hilarious doodling in it. I told Lock that I am going to take pictures of his book and blog them. Hee hee.. He is so crazy!

Look at these!

Money! The face he draw on the note looked very stupid.

I guess this chapter has got something to do with passion and commitment to wealth building that's why he draw this 'ru chi ru kuang'. I like this, I think it's cute.

VOC is the department that he is in. Apparently, he now eat VOC, breathe VOC and drink VOC. Still got 'Yum yum' some more lor!

Snoopy.. and a very uglily drawn boy.

This one is funny, he drew our competing companies as turtles!

Hee hee, this last one is this ship or maybe it's a container or maybe its a building. I don't know what he is drawing but its cute.

If I ever see anymore interesting drawings in his book, I will blog about them again!

Followers

I added this 'followers' gadget at the bottom of my Mikolah and Opera Fanatic Blog. I don't know what it does but it seems interesting. You guys can do me a favour? People like May, my regular reader, can click on that follower link and tell me what it does ok?

I am thinking if it updates you when there is a new entry or something. If it's plain useless, I will remove it. :P

Hahaha.. If you think that you don't need to follow my blog then it's ok. Don't need to click it.

Mystery Solved

Remember the puzzle we had over the sign I took in Iran? Everyone gives me random answers like 'no one arm man allowed' or 'no perking butt allowed'. The answers you guys gave were really funny and entertaining but unfortunately, they are all WRONG!

I thought that I will die with that question never answered but I was so lucky to meet this Iranian lady in Singapore. She finally answered the mystery that had been haunting us for so long.

The translation of the text beneath the sign is......

*Drum roll*

...

.....

.......

.........

...........

..............

..................

.......................

.......................................................

'The entrance of random people is prohibited'

In another words, it means 'only staff allowed'. Something like those xian ren mian jin signs.

Ah well, it all boils down to a simple answer. Not 'one arm man' or 'perky butts'. I think it will be easier to understand if they use those signs with a red - in the centre. Lol...

Mystery solved.

Lee Hom Concert

Lee Hom is going to have a concert in Singapore! I missed the previous one 'Gai Shi Ying Xiong' concert a few years ago because I went to Indonesia to perform at that time. I am going to watch it this time.

I have already bought the ticket which costs me $154! Ex lor. My god but I think the concert will be good. I saw the previous concert on DVD and I liked it. The concert will be on 1 Nov. I hope I don't have any performance on that day! Gotta confirm with Ang when she comes back.

Showing Katie Around

Last week, a friend from Chicago, Katie, visited me, she stayed at my place for 5 days and we had lots of fun together! She told me that she is not into shopping so me and lock and KL racked our brains to come up with places to bring her to.
Well, we did came up with a few outlandish places. Woo hoo~

First night, I picked her up at Lavender. She was coming from Malacca and she missed her bus. She told me it was amazing how much time she spent at the checkpoint that she missed her bus. In the end, she took a cab to Lavender and told the taxi driver she looking for Lavender bus station. The taxi driver told her there is only MRT station, no bus station. Lol...

That night, Lock and me picked her up at Lavender then we went off to AMK hub for dinner. Too late le plus I need to go work next day so I didn't bring her around.

First day - 28.08.08

It was a Thursday, she went to the Arts Museum while I was at work. After that, we met up and walked all the way to the famous guan yin temple at 'four horse road'. She liked the way that the indian temple is right beside the chinese temple.

Then we went to see the getai where we saw MD there too. MD is fan of getai lor. We only stayed at the getai for like 15 minutes. Then we went on to Victoria Theatre because KL got a rehearsal there, dance rehearsal, and she is interested in theatre. So we went in to see it. Too bad I got no performance on that few days. She liked the dance and KL gave us tickets to come back on Saturday to see the full show.

After that, KL, me and Katie, picked up Lock from Little India and we went to..... LIM CHU KANG! Lol.. she was interested and it was the 7th mth, so we decided to go there to see some rituals.

It was very happening. We saw some people praying to the 'gu hun ye gui' and 2 person summoning the Black and White. Katie told me it was so cool to see a possessed man in training. Yes, we saw a trainee 'ki tong' but he eventually did not get possessed successfully.

Then KL, the temples expert explained all those praying rituals and hell money to her.

Day 2 - 29.08.08

I got to go NSC for chemical peel. So Lock brought her around at Esplanade.

I don't know how this photo came about. So funny.

We watched some short clips done by Singaporean aspiring film makers in the Esplanade library too. It was funny because Katie was not used with the singaporean english accent and the various random chinese word we used. However, she learnt a word in the video, dai bao, meaning big bun.

Then we started teaching her to speak singlish. All the lah, leh, meh stuff. She picked up really quickly and can use the lah and leh pretty well.
That night, we went to Geylang to see hookers. Funny right... Hahahaha.. and then we went to Changi to see trannies and show her Changi Hospital. We didn't dare to go into the hospital. It's so eerie looking.
During the long car rides, Katie and Lock made fun of the panda bears in KL's car.

The used my hair as a wig for the panda! Lol...
And Sadako panda! so cute right! Funny lor.. :D

Also, we watched National Geographic in the morning and they were showing pandas. A baby panda was calling out to the mother panda, "eah!".

Katie found that hilarious and we started saying, 'eah' at each other. I can say that we speak good pandaish now.

Eah eah!

Day 3 - 30.08.08

We went to Sentosa for a swim. Katie said it was a dream come true...
And we played Pepsi Cola 123! It was lock's idea. So silly but we had fun.

Lock and Katie sparring. Mad lor..
Lock striking a sexy pose.

Lock: Please help me take a photo of my sexy pose.

After the beach, we went to KTV with Miss Tan and May.
2 of us doing stupid poses.. :)

May, Miss Tan and Lock. They are doing the monkey thing, massaging the person in front of them. They hate my massage though because they said that I didn't use enough strength. Lol.. good la, then I no need to massage for them.

Then we went to mind cafe to play games till like 3am! Another long day passed.

Day 4 - 31.08.08

We didn't do much today because we were too tired. Woke up late and then we went to Lor Ah Soo to buy hell notes. Yes de, hell notes. Katie wanted to bring those back to Chicago and GIVE to her friends! Mad or what! I told her not to show these stuff to the chinese there. They will freak out. She also bought this HELL PASSPORT. It was funny! There was an air ticket inside too which says 'Hell Airlines' and a traveller's cheque, Hell Bank!

Katie loved that Hell passport. She told me that she will use that when she leave the singapore customs the next day. I think the custom people will put her in IMH lor.

Then she told me she will give the passport to a friend who likes travelling back in Chicago.....

-_-"

Later on that evening, we attended James wedding. She has never eaten a traditional chinese wedding dinner before and it was quite an experience for her too. I got some photos of James solemnisation, will blog about it in another day.

This day is a sunday and I work the next day, so we went back home after the dinner.

The next day, I left home in the morning for work and she called me up before she left to say thank you and that she hopes to see me in Korea next year. Yes de, she actually stayed in Korea for 2 years and she will be going back there to work next year. She also speaks fluent Korean! I will probably visit her in Korea next year then I can have someone show me around too~

I had lots of fun these few days and I learnt more about Singapore while showing her around. It was cool...

Batam Trip

I wanted to blog about Batam trip but in the end I never cuz the trip wasn't so good. Haiz, I think it is the worst one since I joined this company. Well, can't complain, company paid for it. Just hope that we will have something better next year.

Nevertheless, I can still show you some photos.

Super big cat fish!! My god, these giant catfish are so big! I wonder if they are for cooking or just put there for show.

KL and me, we going to the Nagoya Shopping mall. The things very cheap there but hor, I am on budget so I never buy a thing. Can you believe it?! I never buy a single thing lor considering that I am such a shopaholic. Anyway, I am changing my ways. I didn't buy anything for like almost 2 months le... Yay!

KL fell asleep while waiting for lunch. Like this also can sleep lor....

Next time you all go Batam must go to this restaurant. SUPER CHEAP! See all the food in front of us? It cost for maybe $10 only sia! I forgot the price liao. KL got take photo of the menu but I did not.

Though the trip is a bit lousy la but it's still relaxing lor. Hopefully next year de trip will be better.

Travel Wish

My avid readers should know by now that I crave for traveling and my ultimate goal in life is to travel to all the beautiful countries in the world. I don't know if I can have companions for these trips but you can register with me if you want to visit the countries that I plan to go then we can go together lah. Hahaha... I am not a rich girl lor and I need to save money for all these trips. Of course if one day got rich man sponsor me go, I will be more than happy to accept. :P

In fact, up till now, most of my trips were sponsored but I think I gonna pay for the trips myself
from now on because you can't choose where to go if they are sponsored.

So I have decided not to get a car or house or anything like that that requires me to commit lots of money. I am not going to get married and have kids cuz kids are a burden and they cost a bomb to keep. I pity people with children lor.. but then again, they are happy with their lives.

I have so many countries to visit and I hope to complete my world traveling by 40 years old! Sometimes I worry, if I am to spend all my savings on traveling, I think I will not have money for retirement.

Aiyah, heck retirement lah! Government doesn't want us to retire anyway. Stupid government.

Ok, back to the topic. Travels!

I am gonna list down the places I have visited first. So that I know how many places I have visited. However, I only remember the trips starting from year 1998. So sad lor, my father brought me to several places when I was young but I forgot which year le. Think he must have regretted to spend so much and bring me to places when I can't really remember.

Maybe I should keep a travel journal. So I can plan and budget my trips.

Year 1998

1) Sweden
2) Denmark

School paid for these, I went there to perform military band marching and playing trumpets. I love these 2 places.

Year 2003

1) Taiwan - Bala treated me the air tickets. Thank you bala! And I stayed in Ang's house.
2) Malaysia - Tioman

Year 2004

1) China - Beijing
2) Maldives - I came back the night before the Tsunami strikes. If I stayed for another 6 hours. You might not see me again!

Year 2005

1) Indonesia - Jakarta, performance trip
2) Malaysia - Redang
3) Malaysia - Perhentien

Year 2006

1) Taiwan again - Performance trip again
2) Thailand - Phuket
3) China - Shantou
4) Indonesia - Bintan, company trip

Year 2007

1) Thailand - Bangkok, first self paid trip! Went with dearest May Teng and YH.
2) Taiwan and again! - Think I go TW too many times liao.

Year 2008

1) China - Guangzhou, second self-paid trip, went with dearest coi ppl.
2) Iran - Tehran, performance trip
3) Qatar - Doha (transit)
4) Indonesia - Batam, company trip

Plans

I got big plans on where to go.. but really. I got to budget them.

Year 2008

1) Sabah - Planning to visit a friend at Sabah in October ($350)

Year 2009

1) Malaysia - Tioman, planning for a short trip there just to relax ($300)
2) Korea - Visit a friend there in September, don't know how much this is going to cost me.
3) Hongkong- Visit a friend in Korea and shun bian go HK together

Year 2010

1) Greenland! - This is going to take alot of money so this year I target to go only 1 place. ($6000)

Year 2011

1) France - Paris, I must go there!
2) Netherlands - Holland & Amsterdam, my friend kept asking me go there. I will try to go if money permits. Probably will go after I visit Paris.

Year 2012

1) Egypt - Cairo
2) China - Anywhere near to SG for a short trip

Year 2013

1) Italy - Rome then to Milan
2) Switzerland - I was thinking from Milan can go Switzerland.. cuz very near.

Year 2014

1) Sweden - Stockholm. I love this place. Sweden is a very peaceful country!
2) Norway

Year 2015

1) Russia
2) Mongolia

Rough idea is like this la but of course I have to see whether that year my financial ability allows me to go that place or not. If not then I will save it and wait for the next year lor. However, I plan to target all my trips to be budget trips, meaning I will stay at friend's house or stay in hostel. I will eat in cheaper places and minimum shopping. That way, I can save the money and go to more places! Hooray!~

I have been making the plans mentally in my head, today I decided to plan it out. Looks like its going to be difficult to travel to so many places in such a short time but I hope I can make it. If not I will die as a very unhappy person.

Auntie Play PSP

Was going to work a few days ago when I saw this amazing sight in the bus.

I know that I just got to take a photo of this!! So I secretly snapped it with my dearest N82.

Auntie play PSP hor. Don't play play! hahaha... Some more it's a pink one ok. I think she was playing a game similar to the crystal puzzle fighter. I was surprised lor cuz even my mum, who is younger than this auntie, doesn't like games at all.
