My drawing

Long time ago, I drew iguanas for a school project. I was in NYP first year and our studio project was to do research on an animal we are assigned to. The first time I did it, I was assigned to do a mousedeer. What a boring animal. I failed the project. When I retook it, I did the Green iguana.

I must pass the project this time so I took lots of hardwork to go to the zoo and take pictures, draw.. etc. For the project, I must draw the iguana's various body parts and do a painting of it. Finally, my research must complete with a model of the iguana which i made using paper cups and brushes.

It really took me alot of time to draw this head. Trust me.


And I painted this too. Not so nice but i tried my best.

Fortunately, I passed this project. If not I might have to repeat my year 1.

滕王阁序

In Tang Dynasty, there was a talented poet named, Wang Bo 王勃. One day, he was walking past the opening of 滕王阁 and there was a big feast there. The owner of 滕王阁 wanted to show off his great building so he invited Wang Bo too.

The owner initially wanted his son-in-law to show off his flair in poems, so he invited all the guests to write a poem regarding his Teng Wang Ge. Nobody dared to write anything as everyone knew the purpose of the owner. The paper and brush was passed around but no one touch it.

Wang Bo was sitting at the end of the hall as he was one of the last guest to be invited. When the paper and brush reached him, he just picked it up and started writing.

Seeing this, the owner was rather unhappy and found an excuse to leave the hall. Wang Bo, being young, was not sensitive with the behaviour on the owner and continued to write.

The servant of the owner started passing messages to the owner informing him what Wang Bo wrote.

豫章故郡,洪都新府。星分翼轸,地接衡庐。襟三江而带五湖,控蛮荆而引瓯越。

This was the first line, it clearly stated out the location of Teng Wang Ge.

"hmph!", thought the owner.

潦水尽而寒潭清,烟光凝而暮山紫.

"smart alec," thought the owner.

临帝子之长洲,得天人之旧馆。层台耸翠,上出重霄;飞阁翔丹,下临无地。

"not so bad, in fact," thought the owner.

落霞与孤鹜齐飞,秋水共长天一色。

*slaps the table* "Hao ah! (good)" exclaimed the owner.

He immediately stood up and went to Wang Bo's side to watch him finish the poem.

Those parts I mentioned above is not the full 序 and it is not the poem. It is just an introduction to the Teng Wang Ge and the poem.

Then Wang Bo proceeded to complete the poem.

滕王高阁临江渚,
佩玉鸣鸾罢歌舞。
画栋朝飞南浦云,
珠帘暮卷西山雨。
闲云潭影日悠悠,
物换星移几度秋。
阁中帝子今何在?
槛外长江空自流。

And Wang Bo became famous.

My favourite line is 落霞与孤鹜齐飞,秋水共长天一色。Imagine the scene... awwww.. isn't it just beautiful?

I forgot where I heard this story before, I think it is from some lit books. :D

Cotton Wool

Shucks.. my mum suggested that I put cotton wool on my wounds. Now the cotton wool is stuck on my knees. So ugly! The cotton wool has hardened and is much more difficult to remove now. Sianz.. looks like I got to keep putting the bandage to hide my ugly knees plus cotton wool.

Must be wondering why I don't use plaster right? Cuz i am allergic to plasters!

I was also unfortunate

I was also unfortunate! Maybe because I read too much of the Series of Unfortunate Events. Yesterday, I was going back to my office after lunch when I fell down on the road. Luckily I never fall flat on the road, else there will be scars on my face. Anyway, I fell on my knees and immediately, the top layer skin was scrapped off. It wasn't so painful at that moment so I just walked back to my office.

Someone commented that Mel is a very caring person. Mel, the caring person, was like very enthusiastic yesterday to help me clean my wounds. The office's first aid was never been used before and I am the first to use it. Man, I should be honoured. -_-"

Mel very artistically bandage my knees for me. She said that bandaging the wounds will prevent it from leaving scars behind. Since I am allergic to plaster, I might as well bandage it. She wanted to clean my wounds with a piece of wet wool. I screeched and told her that I can do that myself. Though my knees were not really painful, I cannot stand the pain of water/medicine touching my wounds. Since young, I never let water touch my wounds when I am injured.

A Series Of Unfortunate Events

Recently, I have been very addicted to reading a series of books named 'A Series Of Unfotunate Events'. Yes, I got to know this book from the movie by Jim Carey. The movie was not bad but the books were fantastic!!!

There were already 12 books published and I have bought 7 books. Now, I am searching for the 8th. Unlike other children's book, this book is described by the author as gloomy, sad, disturbing and is not suitable to those with a weak heart. In fact, these books were extremely funny and and Lemony Snicket, the author, is so so witty at writing.

Here is an introduction of the books written by Lemony Snicket:

Dear Reader,

I'm sorry to say that the book you are holding in your hands is extremely unpleasant. It tells an unhappy tale about three very unlucky children. Even though they are charming and clever, the Baudelaire siblings lead lives filled with misery and woe. From the very first page of this book when the children are at the beach and receive terrible news, continuing on through the entire story, disaster lurks at their heels. One might say they are magnets for misfortune.

In this short book alone, the three youngsters encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune, and cold porridge for breakfast.

It is my sad duty to write down these unpleasant tales, but there is nothing stopping you from putting this book down at once and reading something happy, if you prefer that sort of thing.

So you see, his writing style is different from other authors and instead of promoting his book, he seems to be telling people not to read his sad stories.

In short, reading a dictionary might make you feel nervous, because you would worry about finding it very boring, but reading this book will make you feel anxious, because you will be troubled by the disturbing suspense in which the Baudelaire orphans find themselves, and if I were you I would drop this book right out of your two or more hands and curl up with a dictionary instead, because all the miserable words I must use to describe these unfortunate events are about to reach your eyes.

Trust me, this book is really entertaining and I am already hooked on it. I hope to buy all the books soon!

Flasher


I suddenly rememeber that I promised to blog about a flasher I have seen in school before. Almost forgot about it until I read my previous post.

I have seen quite a few flashers before but the first time I saw a flasher was in my primary school. Once again, this story involves PJ, Judy and me. As usual, we loiter in the old Cedar girls sec's stadium. The stadium was big and there were 3 spectators stand.. or whatever you call that. To show you guys a better picture of my school, I drew a layout of it.

Nice right? hee hee... ok, just for your info, the spot where we found the dead bird was right in front of the pink school building. As you can see, the primary school and the secondary school was only seperated by a useless fence. The 3 red boxes around the stadium are the spectators stands.

We were at the spectator stand nearest to the fence and were talking about some childish topics. Suddenly, we notice a man sitting under of the trees. It was an old man, maybe around 40 years old, wearing dirty clothes and his hair was a mess. We thought it was weird to have a strange man loitering in our school compounds but we tried to ignore him and continue talking.

Now and then we will glance at that man and suddenly, one of us, I forgot which, noticed something strange. He was personal part was revealed. Being innocent at that time, we didn't know what that was and we asked each other if we have seen anything like that before. Someone, again I forgot who, suggested that it might be his XXX. We were terrified at the strange thing and the strange man and the idea that he was flashing. We ran back to our school to inform the first teacher we saw.

The other students around us were very kpo so when we ran towards that tree, it was a big group of about 20 students and a teacher. Hoever, the man was not there anymore. He disappeared already. Too bad, I would have like that man to get a good scolding or get a police to catch him for being so indecent in a school compound.

This incident didn't stop us from going back to our favourite spot in the stadium though....

Phuket!

I wanted to blog this some time ago but I was rather sick so it dragged till now. I went to Phuket on 13Jan-15Jan, some of my friends thought I disappeared into thin air as none of them were able to find me.

It's a company trip and we had 2 staff from China joining us in Phuket. The trip was nice but unfortunately, I didn't really like Phuket much. Going once is enough for me.

On 13 Jan, we scheduled a flight on 7am which means we have to gather at the airport at 5am. I was still groggy when I woke up at 4am then I realised that I was late cuz I am sharing cab with a colleague and he is already on his way here. I rushed through everything and ended up forgetting bring my toothbrush and facial foam. Hate such early flights.

I decided to dye my hair in Phuket cuz it's so cheap! The above photo is not me but I was bored in the salon while waiting for the dye to go into my hair so I took this. I tell you. I sit there for 2 hours, they bleached, washed, dye, blow, comb, straighten and finally put gel for me. All for $6!!! Believe it or not! Also, I fell asleep while they were straightening my hair... ZZzzz..

In case you are wondering, I didnt bleach all of my hair of cuz. Hxy will kill me. I just dyed three parts under my hair, near my neck.

Simon Caberet show! Hee hee... Pretty tranny yo. I think I don't need to describe how pretty the trannies are already. My friend said they are like barbie dolls.


This photo doesn't do justice to the nice scenery up there at the krata or kata viewpoint. The colours were more vibrant. In the picture, we can see 3 beaches of Phuket. These beaches were affected by the Tsunami. Imagine you were up here when the tsunami came... What a scene.

They decided to do this All Terrain Vehicle thing and as I am a sissy, I am not interested in getting all the dust on my face. So a few other girls and me decided to go shopping in a souvenir shop nearby. By the way, the word 'souvenir' means 'remember' in French.

I always bring either this pudu or another doggy whenever I go overseas so I can take a picture of them. Here is pudu standing by the window in the hotel room. Speaking of the hotel, our hotel rooms are on the 4th floor and there is no lift! Can you believe that? We climbed like hell up the stairs with our luggage. After a whole day outside, we have to climb up a freakin 4 storeys staircase.

Then of course we went to the night market for shopping. However, I think shopping in Phuket sucks. We have to bargain alot and even after bargaining, the price of the item is like in Singapore. For example, my friend want to buy the necklace from the above picture, the first price given to us was I think 450baht. That is $18.75. After bargaining, it was 250 baht, $10.40. I can buy a necklace with that price in Singapore too.

We went to one bag shop and the shop owner quoted an outrageous price of 1850 baht ($77) for a simple, non-branded bag! I told him,"We can buy a branded bag with this price in Singapore." With that, we left the shop. I think those ang mohs do not bargain alot and hence all the shop owners are not keen at bargaining with us.

Shopping sucks but at least we had good food! The food was really nice at those road side shops. Better than the restaurants. Anyway, the restaurants are far too EXPENSIVE.

Look at the amount of tourists!!! The beach is so overcrowded but the sea is empty. All the angmohs prefer to sit on the beach then go into the water.

On the last day, I finally got a chance to take photo on the beach before checking out. You can see that there is no one in the sea...

Sheena is still drunk when we were checking out. She just stay like that and drag herself all the way like this to the airport.

This silver aeroplane is so cool! The real thing look nicer but too bad my camera did not capture the coolness.

Bye bye Phuket!

I think going to Phuket once is enough for me. The place is really overcrowded and the things are so expensive. It looks like Bangkok with a beach in fact.

Back Pain!

Yesterday, I was suffering from extreme back pain. It hurts when I walk, sit, stand, run. My god. I wanted to blog about my Phuket trip yesterday but sitting and typing was tedious for me. In the end, I went to see a chinese doctor and he did the 'tui na' for me. So painful!! I screamed and shouted and kicked around but fortunately, I felt better after the 'massage'. 5 minutes later, the pain came back..-_-"

Doctor gave me some medicine and hopefully the pain will be gone after I take the medicine. In the evening, I still went for my opera rehearsal. I asked Richard to come fetch me.

I can't skip yesterday's rehearsal as I already skipped 2 classes while in Phuket and HXY is going back to TW today for Chinese New Year. So I have to go even if I break my bones.

Indeed, when I arrived, She immediately said," Yuying! You have to do the flipping on the floor."

What? What flipping?

HXY," Flipping in circles."

I got it but I was thinking that it's going to break my back.

HXY started demonstrating and I followed. After doing it a few times, my back actually felt better! hahaha...

My god, I have to practice this and try to achieve splitting my legs apart. Since HXY is not around these 2 weeks, I might just sought help from other teachers for this flipping thing.

Avant De Partir

I am going on holidays from 13-15Jan, a company outing. Nevertheless, YEAH!

Company outing may be more restricted but I think it should still be quite fun. We are going to Phuket. I know I once made a vow to stop going to resorts. I am kinda sick of it but this time its a different companion. I am only afraid of coming back with darker skin. I got some good sunblock lotion but still.... I don't want to be blackie Xiaoqian! :P

My camera abit siao siao liao.. I hope it's still functionable. This time, I am not going to buy the underwater camera. Budget trip. I want to save money for my other trips this year. I really must go Taiwan to comb my wig!!!

Je ne comprend pas pourquoi il faut arriver a la situation. C'est la vie, je pense. Je voudrais rester dans la paix. Je me fou, vraiment, je me fou ce que tu pense. Si tu me deteste, il y a rien que je peux faire. Donc, je me fou. D'accord?

Arreter de dire tout ca. C'est stupide. Personne veut t'ecouter.

The whole of yesterday was raining non-stop and I mean really non-stop. I got up at 10am and went out at almost 11am for the make up class. It was alraedy raining very heavily. Mum said that the rain started the night before.

I was te first to reach WAX house and chatted with HXY abit as WX and WZ are still sleeping, or just woke up. heehee...

So nice of QY~ she made us pumpkin rice! and herbal chicken! It was really tasty. HXY likes food like this. We had a hearty meal and commented that we have a good cook in our troupe and a good seamstress (WX/WZ). WX altered HXY's costume so nicely!

Today's make up class was a disaster to me. I did a lousy make up. hahaha...

After that, we sat down to watch our old performances VCDs while WZ called for pizza and kfc delivery. Woohoo... Cuz it's raining too much we can't go out.

I intended to meet my friend but because of the damn rain, I stayed at WX'a house all day.

After eating, we setted off to Bukit Batok as HXY got a small performance there. I don't know how the hell we are going to manage in this rain. Fortunately, all went well and HXY didn't wet her costume.

SIANZ! I think it's going to rain again now.... wah liew...

The Promise

Finally I watched "The Promise". I know everyone says the movie sucks. My friend even asked me why I want to see it when everyone said it's lousy. Basically, I don't trust other people's opinion regarding movies. It's subjective. Just like everyone else hates opera, I love opera.

Anyway, I really like the movie! Hahaha.. Luckily never listen to the others. The movie was just like what I have expected. I love the sets, the colours, the sceneries etc. Of course the special effects is not as 'real' compared to Hollywood movies but it is not bad already. The whole movie gave me a very fantasy feel, eg, the flying hair of the goddess, the palace, the sceneries.... etc.

The story is not bad. At least, it has a reasonable beginning and a reasonable ending, at least to me. The costume of Nicholas Tse reminded me of the costumes in GZX. Really looks like.

Look at the yun jian and the headgear! Looks like something that GZX will use.

If you want to see this movie, please do not view it as a wuxia film. Just treat it as a fantasy film cuz you will see ppl fly or run at abnormal speed.

Zhang Bo Zhi wasn't very pretty in the show, Zhang dong jian wasn't very handsome but that is fine with me. Hee hee...

The show is cool, really. I think I am going to see it again.

Company Xmas Party

I almost forgot to blog about the xmas party in my office. I was one of the organisers so I didn't get to play the games much.

I have got some pictures to share! They are taken during a game called "Big Dress up". The players are supposed to dress one of their team members as a turkey with limited materials.

I can't remember who won this game. I think it was CK. hee hee...

Childhood Memories

One of my childhood memories that I remembered clearly, happened when I was in primary school. I was studying at Cedar Primary which is right beside the old Cedar Girls Secondary. At that time, Cedar Sec was still using the old building and we, Cedar Primary students, likes to loiter around the School compound as our fields are connected. We do not have to go in by the main gate.

One of my favourite past time in those days was to go the stadium tracks of the Sec school with 2 of my best friends, PJ and Judy. Yes, PJ is the one who likes the shaking pig. We will then walk around the running tracks of the stadium, round and round, around 3 rounds each time, with a soft drink in our hands. I remember that Cedar Sec had a soft drink dispenser and each cup of soft drink was 40 cents. Not the small cups, but the regular size ones that we get from Mcdonald's.

While walking around the tracks, our favourite topic would be ghost stories. We tell each other scary stories of the sec school which we made up. Hahaha... Cedar Sec looked eerie to us.

Anyway, one day while we were walking around the tracks, I spotted a dead sparrow lying at the side of the tracks. At that time, Judy was the bravest among the 3 of us. She flipped over the dead bird with a stick. Eeeewww.. There were worms.

It was disgusting and we thought that the bird must be in agony to be infested with maggots. Hence, we decided to cremate the bird the next day.

We arrived at the stadium the next day and surprisingly, the bird was still there. I took out a box of matches, Judy had a cup of water and there was another friend who insisted that he want to tag along. I remember his name was Louis. So kpo.

I covered the bird with some dried grass and passed the matches to PJ. PJ tried to light it but was unsuccessful. Then Judy tried. Unsuccessful again. So I took over. I striked the match and threw it to the small pile of dried grass. Immediately, it started to burn slowly.

We waited patiently, Judy with the cup of water getting ready, in case of fire, she can distinguish it with that cup of water.

The little pile burned and burned and suddenly Judy exclaimed," Look! The spirit of the bird rising up!"

We were very excited and asked,"Where? Where?"

In fact, it was only the smoke, not spirit.

All of a sudden, a teacher appeared. We didn't noticed him at first. He was staring at what we were doing.

I didn't know when did PJ became so brave. She walked over to the teacher and explained that the bird was dead and it caused some foul smell. We burnt it to get rid of the smell. The teacher believed our tall tale and walked away.

We didn't watched the bird burnt to ashes as our time is up, need to go back or go home, I forgot.

We, the 3 masketeers, saw a flasher in Cedar Sec before. Blog about it next time~

I want to see movies!

For the festive seasons, I have been going for opera rehearsals! I have been wanting to watch some movies for a long time and because my opera practices are taking up all my time, I could not find time to watch movies at all. I wanted to see Chicken Little but it's off the screens now. Haiz, I am very tired today cuz I slept late last night but I have decided that tonight I am going to watch 'The Promise'. I have been wanting to see it for a long time and because all my opera practices, I didn't get to see it. So tonight, I am going to see it even if it means going alone.....

Haiz...

Ok, I am gonna blog about my countdown at Biyu's home. That day I had rehearsals until around 9pm. Talking about rehearsals, I am having a tough time but that's another story. We had dinner together as usual at the coffeeshop next to COI and we dispersed at around 10:30pm. Yilan, Qiuyue and company decided to go to Nancy's coffeshop to countdown while I decided to go to Biyu's home.

Everyone's already there when I arrived. They were chatting and eating. Feiyou just went into NS for 3 weeks and he already has so many army stories to tell the other guys. Steven and PeiChen happily share their experiences with FeiYou.

Uncle Lim suggested that we play some poker games. Losers will have to drink some liquor. Think it's Chivas.

Then they settled down and started playing. They play and play non-stop until 11:54pm.

After counting down, everyone settled down and started to play again. This time they played 终极密码. Once again, loser has to drink. I tell you, they played till 2:30am and downed a whole bottle of Chivas!!

I didn't play cuz I don't like to drink but in the end someone offered to drink for me if I lost, so I joined in the fun.

The ones that drank most that night was FeiYou, Uncle Lim and Pei Chen. Bi Yu drank quite a bit too but she stopped playing when she could not take it.

At this point, both Uncle and Feiyou are drunk but they continued with the game. FY's face was as red as an apple.

The young ones went for roti prata after the game but I decided to go home. Already 3am! And have to go for make up class the following day!
